Gabe Chess joined the firm as a fellow in 2024 between his clerkships with Judge Toby Heytens of the Fourth Circuit and Judge Jia Cobb of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. During law school, Gabe worked at Public Justice; the Promise of Justice Initiative, where he helped develop a litigation strategy to challenge forced labor in Louisiana’s prisons and jails; and the Neighborhood Defender Service of Detroit. He also worked on behalf of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people through a law school clinic, was a book review editor on the Michigan Law Review, and published a Note on the potential of bringing contract claims in response to the privatization of government services. Before law school Gabe worked with artists and musicians in Detroit.
